'Het Pand' is situated near St Michael's Church, in one of the prettiest neighborhoods in Ghent's city centre. It was built in the twelfth century and throughout its turbulent history, Het Pand was used for various purposes and had some remarkable owners. Het Pand started out as a hospice, at one time served as a Dominican monastery and was even used as student housing. Since 1991, Ghent University has been using 'Het Pand' as a congress and cultural centre.
